String voltage window
Checks hot Vmp and cold Voc against the inverter and MPPT operating limits.
Carry the design into stringing, electrical checks, conductor sizing and the single-line diagram. One project model keeps the array, cable schedule, BOM and exported drawing aligned.

Modules are grouped by tilt and azimuth before assignment, keeping unlike surfaces apart where MPPT capacity allows. Physical proximity then guides the layout so the electrical plan follows the roof instead of treating it as a spreadsheet.
The optimization stage balances wire length, electrical mismatch and unstrung modules. Designers keep control of the objective—shorter cable runs, production alignment or a balanced result.

SurgePV brings the electrical checks beside the design decision that created them. Some conditions block an invalid string; others remain visible advisories so the responsible engineer can review and document the exception.
Checks hot Vmp and cold Voc against the inverter and MPPT operating limits.
Flags parallel-string configurations that require string-level protection review.
Compares aggregate string current with the MPPT limit, including bifacial current adjustment.
Surfaces the array-to-inverter loading range before it reaches the drawing package.
Sizes and reviews DC, single-phase and three-phase cable runs against regional budgets.
Keeps tilt and azimuth groups together where MPPT capacity allows.
Electrical outputs support the design and review workflow. They do not replace approval by the responsible engineer, AHJ, utility or other reviewing authority.

Opening the SLD reads the latest project topology, loads the project’s region pack, places the components and connections, inserts required regulatory annotations, and sizes the cable runs.
Because the drawing, schedule and BOM come from the same model, a design revision has one place to start. The output uses IEC 60617 or ANSI symbols according to the project region.
The sizing pipeline applies the active region’s current factor, ampacity and correction tables, voltage-drop treatment, nomenclature and mandatory-device rules.
*US voltage-drop figures are recommendations by default, so the engine warns rather than fails unless the organisation pins them as limits.

Export a client- or reviewer-ready PDF, or take the drawing into a CAD workflow as DXF. Supporting schedules and material outputs stay attached to the same design revision.

It generates the SLD, cable schedule and BOM from the design, reducing separate drafting and reconciliation. Outputs still require the review and approval appropriate to the project and region.
The documented CAD output is DXF, alongside PDF and schedule exports. DXF is the exchange format for taking the drawing into AutoCAD and other CAD tools.
Six regional packs cover India, the United States, Germany, Australia, South Africa and the United Kingdom, with regional symbols, conductor rules and voltage-drop treatment.
Modules are grouped by tilt and azimuth first, with orientation and physical proximity used after that. Each group is kept on its own MPPT where capacity allows, reducing electrical mismatch and unnecessary DC cable length.
The documented workflow covers temperature-corrected string limits, inverter maximum DC voltage, MPPT current loading, bifacial current adjustment, reverse-current advisories under NEC 690.9, DC/AC ratio and voltage drop.
The SLD is projected from the latest design topology. SurgePV loads the regional symbol and device rules, places components and connections, sizes cable runs, and produces the diagram, schedule and bill of materials from the same project model.
The drawing supports project-level layout and labeling controls, and DXF export provides a CAD exchange file for continued work. An exported DXF does not round-trip back into the SurgePV design.
No. SurgePV supports design checks and documentation using regional rules, but the responsible engineer, authority, utility and other project reviewers retain approval responsibility.
