Electrical (CEIG) Drawings
CEIG-compliant electrical drawings for net metering and gross metering solar installations, prepared to the submission format your state DISCOM expects.
Delivered by Heaven Designs, SurgePV's trusted solar design partner
What Are Electrical CEIG Drawings?
Grid-connected solar under net metering or gross metering needs approval from the Chief Electrical Inspector to Government before it can be energised. CEIG drawings are the electrical documentation that approval is granted against.
Each state CEIG office has its own format and technical requirements. Drawings prepared to the wrong format come back, so packages are built to the specific submission requirements of your state DISCOM to reduce revision cycles.
These drawings apply to net metering and gross metering installations. They are not required for off-grid systems. Each package is stamped by a licensed electrical engineer, and drawings follow IS 732, IS 3043 and the relevant BIS standards.
What You Get
Single Line Diagram (SLD)
Full electrical SLD covering panel strings, inverters, meters and grid connection points.
Cable Layout Drawing
Cable routing plan with cable sizing, conduit paths and junction box placement.
Earthing Layout
Earthing and bonding diagram to IS standards, covering the GI strip or copper cable earthing network.
Equipment Schedule
Bill of materials listing electrical components with makes, models and technical ratings.
CEIG Approval Set
Stamped drawings prepared for CEIG and DISCOM submission for net or gross metering approval.
Load Calculations
Load flow and short circuit calculations supporting the CEIG submission.
Built for EPCs Filing for Grid Approval
EPC Companies
Get submission sets drawn to each state office's format across a multi-state pipeline.
Solar Contractors
Clear the electrical approval step without holding an in-house drafting desk for it.
Commercial Solar Companies
Move C&I net metering projects through DISCOM review with fewer round trips.
Developers
Keep energisation on the critical path rather than waiting on redrawn documentation.
How It Works
Submit Project
Send the project details and the state DISCOM the submission is going to.
Share Electrical Data
Provide the 2D layout, panel and inverter details, meter type, DG and transformer ratings, and cable type.
Drawing Production
SLD, cable layout, earthing layout, equipment schedule and load calculations are prepared.
Engineer Stamping
The package is stamped by a licensed electrical engineer for submission.
Query Response
If the CEIG office raises queries, revisions are handled as part of the approval workflow.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are CEIG drawings?
Electrical drawings and documentation prepared to support CEIG approval — or the equivalent authority's approval process — for a grid-connected solar plant.
Which installations need them?
Net metering and gross metering installations. Off-grid systems do not go through this approval process.
What documents are typically included?
Single-line diagrams, equipment schedules, cable schedules, earthing layouts, protection notes, load calculations and any other electrical sheets required.
Are revisions handled after authority comments?
Yes. Comment-driven revisions are a normal part of the approval workflow within the agreed scope.
Can CEIG drawings come with detailed engineering?
Yes. They are frequently delivered inside a wider rooftop or ground-mount engineering package.
